Ayesha Takia is paired opposite Rajeev and will be seen sporting a new look of a stylish European-Indian. Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend, Gemma Atkinson will be making her debut with this film and will be playing the role that was earlier offered to Barbara Mori. Gemma plays the role of a hot British model settled in Switzerland. She will also flaunt a bikini. She plays a linguist in the movie and will also be seen speaking Hindi.

‘Fever’ is about Indians living in Europe and focuses on Rajeev and Ayesha’s relationship, but the story gets a spike when Gemma enters their life.

Baring their hearts on a microblogging site, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and “Dor” star Ayesha Takia showed what it takes to be a concerned citizen, recently. While Kapur wrote a sensitive message on his site, “While obsessed w/Lady Gaga n F1 v shld remind rselves of Indias reality, kids begging on streets”, Takia wrote on hers, “Can’t believe the deaths of the innocent little babies in W bengal..beyonddd sad n shocking!” We sure appreciate the thoughts behind these statements.

Ayesha, who ha had a steady relationship with now husband, Farhan Azmi, for several years before getting hitched, admits being a romantic at heart. “I simply love to believe in love stories. They are so cute and mushy…I think everyone should believe in them, why just filmy people,” says Ayesha who played a romantic heroine in the recently released Nagesh Kukunoor film, “Mod”.

Though Ayesha received popularity with her de-glamourised role in Kukunoor’s “Dor”, which also featured Gul Panag and Shreyas Talpade, the actress says, “The genre of romance is perhaps the closest to my heart and I like the whole idea of feel good, look good roles and films that have a positive vibe.”

In converstaion with her fans on rediff chat, Ayesha talks about her films and the direction her career has taken over the years. Here’s the unedited transcript for those who missed it:

When we called Rajeev, he said, “The film is yet to take off and I cannot talk about my role in the film as it is too early to do so. All I can say is that I have been offered a very interesting role and we are yet to finalize a lot of things.”

Fever is produced by Ravi Agarwal and directed by new age writer-director Rajeev Jhaveri. Jhaveri has directed the Award Winning short film Cold Meat, which participated in International film festivals in Greece and Australia.

Fever is slated to release in March next year.

Tapas Relia and Shivam Pathak too regaled the crowds with the other songs from the film. Nagesh and Rannvijay were also seen chatting for long way after the event got over. Ayesha too stayed right till the end. Inicidentally, Monica Bedi too was in the same premises, though not for the same event.

In the film, Ayesha has reinvented herself as a European-Indian with panache and style. And producer Ravi Agrawal is pleased with the casting. “Since I heard the narration, I was keen to cast Ayesha Takia. I could not imagine any other actor in this particular character,” he says.

Fever is produced under the banner of Plus Entertainment Pvt Ltd by Ravi Agrawal, who has earlier produced films like Radio and Deadline-Sirf 24 Ghante. The star cast includes Rajeev Khandelwal and sees Victor Banerjee play a pivotal character.

The producers have had to incur huge losses on this account. They tried getting in touch with her but to no avail. The producers are now apparently contemplating taking her to court. We’re sure something drastic must have happened on the sets for Ayesha to react so extremely.

There are only a few filmmakers who present a woman’s perspective in their films. And Nagesh Kukunoor is one of those filmmakers,” says Ayesha, who is waiting for the release of her next film, Mod, directed by Nagesh.

Ayesha admits that although she loves romantic films, she looks for roles that allow her to showcase her acting prowess. “I am a big-time sucker for romantic flicks but Nagesh’s films bring forth a new me and give me an opportunity to display my acting talent,” she says.

Like all married Bollywood female actors, Ayesha also took a sabbatical after she married Farhan Azmi in 2009. Ask her if her decision to take a break was a good one, she says, “Of course, it was. The break has been fabulous. Though I dated Farhan for seven years, which is a pretty long time, before finally tying the knot, the past two-and-a-half years have given us time to know each other better. And it also gave me an opportunity to make a comeback with another intense role in Mod. I guess it was worth the wait.”

We spotted Ayesha Takia?along with her mum and sister on day one of the Lakme Fashion Week. The trio turned up for their designer friend Archana Kochhar’s show. What caught our attention was Ayesha’s immense weight loss!?

With her newly acquired ultra slim body, bystanders refused to believe that she was indeed Ayesha Takia!

In an exclusive chat with TOI, clad in a black anarkali suit, Ayesha revealed her weight loss mantra by stating, “It’s a result of good work out and maintaining a strict diet. I make sure I have brown rice and stay away from unhealthy food. I am glad people are positively surprised.”

We couldn’t help but ask Ayesha why wasn’t she the showstopper, especially now that she was close to looking like a supermodel herself.?She replied, “It was Archana’s decision. She didn’t want a Bollywood showstopper.”
