She has just finished her pet project ‘Shaadi Se Pehle’. But mention the word “shaadi” and actress Ayesha Takia yells, clarifying, “i am not getting married. And i am definitely not quitting Bollywood.”

Tell her that there have been rumours that she had chosen home over her career, and Ayesha says, “Yes, even i have heard that one. But it is not true. i have just started my career as an actress. i have a long way to go. The rumour-mongers even fixed up my wedding date for March 6th. Marriage is out of question for another five to six years. i want to focus on my career.” Ayesha admits though that she is in love with restaurateur Farhan Azmi, who owns Koyla and Balisco. “Yes, i love Farhan. But we have not yet given marriage a thought.

i am just 20 and he’s 23. We have barely settled in our careers, so how can we think of getting married at the moment? But the media has already fixed our wedding date. We even told our respective families to attend it.” Ayesha jokes. Your performance in Dor was acclaimed. But you don’t figure in any award nominations. Does that upset you?
i don’t know what nominations are out. i’ve never thought of awards. Still, i won’t deny that it feels good to win an award, even though it’s never been the driving factor for me.

So many top film-makers want to sign you. But they’re wary that you’re a few months away from marriage.
i’ve never said that i’m getting married. i love my work and playing diverse roles in different films. Film-makers who want to work with me can check with me if their script interests me. if i like the role and i have the dates required, there’s no problem. After winning majority of best debutant award in year 2004 after the release of TAARZAN – THE WONDER CAR and DiL MAANGE MORE, pretty Ayesha Takia didn’t really have a great time at the box office.

Her SOCHA NA THA brought her immense appreciation but her subsequent films like SHAADi NO.1, HOME DELiVERY and SHAADi SE PEHLE weren’t really noticed by many.

Thankfully a turnaround happened in a small but interesting role in Naseeruddin Shah’s debut directorial effort YUN HOTA TOH KYA HOTA. Currently, Ayesha Takia is shooting for Ahmed Khan’s ‘Fool And Final’. She dressed well with her hair styled perfectly, when Ahmed came and messed up her hair.

When surprised Ayesha asked what the reason behind his this kind of behavior, Ahmed explains, “She plays a bubbly girl with a different look.

it is not a polished look. in the entire film, she will be seen chewing bubble gum. in fact, she practiced blowing gum for almost a month. And finally she has got it right.”

That’s a hair-raising experience, indeed for actress Ayesha Takia. During the shooting of ‘Fool and Final’ in Dubai recently, the wonder girl was merely taken aback when the film’s director Ahmed Khan came forward to her and messed up her hair with his hands.

Her hair came loose and no hair was in place. When a surprised Ayesha asked Ahmed the reason for his behavior, he said this was the look he wanted for the film, not the style look she was sporting.

Pasta
if in town, Ayesha must troop down to her boyfriend Farhan Azmi’s italian restaurant Basilico, in Bandra every day. “Pasta and salads are my favourite. i can have italian every day,” she laughs.

Mutton Biryani
With a Gujarati father and Muslim mom, Ayesha has sampled a blend of cuisines, and of all the indian traditional dishes, she loves the mutton biryani, “The saffron and Kewda aroma and the succulent meat chunks with long-grained rice just make my day,” she sighs longingly.
