All eyes on Ayesha Takia

it’s her first double role and she is delighted. “i’m really excited,” gushes Ayesha Takia on the phone from Mumbai. But moments later she admits that more than her twin presence in the movie what makes No Smoking special for her is Anurag Kashyap in the director’s chair.

“i have always tried to do different kind of films and No Smoking is a step in that direction,” she adds. Anurag’s film, produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and Kumar Mangat, finds Ayesha opposite John Abraham for the first time. it’s been less than a week of shooting but Anurag is already a big fan of Ayesha. “She is a natural,” he says. “Definitely the next Rani Mukherjee!”

And Ayesha is clear that a No Smoking won’t come along everyday. “Just like a Dor won’t happen every time,” she smiles, happy with the truckloads of compliments she has been receiving ever since the Nagesh Kukunoor film hit the theatres. Continue reading ‘All eyes on Ayesha Takia’

The chirpy actress has her kitty full with ‘Salaam-E-ishq’, ‘Full ‘n’ Final’, ‘De Talli’ and ‘No Smoking’. “Not just that i’d also be hosting Sabse Favourite Kaun Awards, 2006,” she informed.

Sabsey Favourite Kaun, Star Gold’s TV show, goes bigger and ultra-glam, with a new format and new hosts. Accompanying them on the show is the vivacious Ayesha Takia.

Sabsey Favourite Kaun is all set to rock and this time on an international level. The award will cover a host of nations that includes the Middle East, South East Asia, US, UK, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia and New Zealand.

This award is completely different from other Bollywood award shows. Here, the winners are decided completely by the fans who not only vote for the winners of every single category, but also vote to shortlist the stars as nominees. And the vote is for popularity, not performance — winners can win even if they have not had a single release in the last year, but are popular with the masses.
