Ishq ishq ishq!

There are men out there who hate Valentine’s Day. Many of them are single and some of them are married!

To them it’s not so much a day for moral policing against lovers but a day to warn the world about the side effects of pyaar. They point out that Shakespeare might have written Romeo and Juliet, but the reason it ends in tragedy can be traced to his own personal life.

After all, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, had three children and then ran as far as he could from home to only mention her once in one of his works as Hate Away!

These men who hate Valentine’s Day feel it’s their tribe that falls in love at first sight, especially if the one in their sight has even a vague resemblance to Ayesha Takia.

According to them, women usually don’t fall in love at first sight with guys. They first fall in love with an imagined picture of marital bliss with the guy in question!

Once again, examples abound. Like, Mary Todd, who was courted simultaneously by Abraham Lincoln and his political rival Stephen Douglas.

But she reportedly chose Lincoln after evaluating him as the one with whom she had a better chance of glory!

Interestingly, while it’s customary in Japan for women to give chocolates to their male co-workers on Valentine’s Day, two months later Korea celebrates Black Day on April 14 – a day on which men who didn’t get any gifts on Valentine’s Day get together to eat noodles in black sauce called Jajangmyun!

While skeptics scoff at love marriage, they aren’t exactly kicked about love after marriage either.

After all, Peter the Great had his wife’s lover executed; his head put in a jar of alcohol and displayed it in her bedroom. Today, the wife and her lover prefer to call their relationship platonic love so that her husband or his wife doesn’t gun for their respective heads.

The only problem with platonic love or amor platonicus is that the term has its roots in the era of Plato and Socrates, both of whom were known for their bonding with small boys.

But it makes perfect sense today when someone says platonic love is about a guy and a girl in a non-sexual relationship!

Well, so much for Valentine’s Day! A day that’s special for the diamond and the greeting card industry.
