Ayesha Takia is in a philosophical mood. “Why do I keep on getting more roles?” she asks. Uh, what was that again? “No, what I mean is I don’t expose, don’t do what people want me to do and don’t even go to award functions to be seen.

Then, why do I keep getting more roles?” Ayesha asks. She then goes on to solve the puzzle for you. “I guess it is because of the audience. They love my work. In fact, it was after seeing Dor that director Rohit Shetty signed me for his Sunday,” the actor says alluding to the film for which she is shooting in the city presently.

Ask her which is that one film she is proud of and pat comes the answer, ” Dor ! But come to think of it, Dor was just 30 per cent of what I can deliver as an actor.”

With so much talent, will we see her clutching an Oscar anytime soon? “Well, I even know what I will do there. Like Charlize Theron’s acceptance speech, I will cry for 15 seconds and say thank you for another 15 seconds,” she says.

But take away her passion for acting and Ayesha emerges as a “very lazy person. I am the kind to sit in front of the telly for hours. In fact, my parents and I are addicted to food shows. We can watch them endlessly. People who have seen us like, this call us a crazy family,” Ayesha laughs.

And adds on a serious note, “But I love my parents the way they are. I get irritated when people ask me if I have met a certain actor or I have bags worth lakhs in my wardrobe. I come from a middle-class family and I value money. This is something that attracted me to my boyfriend Farhan Azmi too. He is a self-made man and very levelheaded ,” she adds.
